intro

Looks like I find myself in the blogging world for the first time. As a blog virgin, I really don't know the ins and outs or the "do"s and "don't"s, but I suppose it's only a matter of time before I figure it all out.

I'm a senior here at the beautiful University of Texas and will be graduating in May (assuming I pass everything). I don't exactly know what I'll be doing with my English degree with Business Foundations. Maybe I'll test the law school waters or change the world through educating the young minds of high school kids. If I were to teach, I'd love to be an English teacher at any Jesuit school (as I am a graduate of Jesuit College Prep in Dallas).

In regards to animals, I've probably been surrounded by animals all my life. When I was in Kindergarten my older brother and I split on our first pet - a hamster. His full name was Prince Ali (Prince for short), in honor of Aladdin from the Disney movie which was the freshest movie at the time. Our Prince was a well behaved hamster until one day when Matt thought it was appropriate to toss him up and down, he dropped him. Prince was a mean hamster after that day and always bit friendlies.

After Prince passed from natural causes, my family purchased a Shetland Sheepdog. He was technically my brother's dog, so Matt named him after the most outspoken and tenacious glass cleaner of the Phoenix Suns, who is also his favorite player ever to run the hardcourt - Charles Barkley (Barkley for short). I don't think he was a full breed like he was supposed to be; rather, I believe he had some Collie somewhere in his lineage because he was a bit bigger than Shelties. I enjoyed his company greatly because he was always hyper, unruly and loving. He reminded me of my ADHD self. He lived a gloriously happy 16 years and passed about a year ago from old age.

When Barkley was getting old, my mom got a toy Chihuhua from a coworker for a price she couldn't pass up. My household in DeSoto (suburbal Dallas) consists of me, my 2 brothers, my dad and my mom. So naturally, when my mom got her Sassy, she got her first girl. Rightfully so, Sassy has been spoiled for the whole 2 years she has been alive. Sometimes I really think she loves that little dog more than me.
Last Feburary I purchased the greatest dog alive for my best friend's birthday. He is a Yorkshire Terrier named Milo. He turns 1 year old this February and is the most loving dog I have ever met. He is adorable and brilliant (knows a total of 10 tricks and counting). However, he tends to fart in silence and makes me look like I'm the one with gas problems. He gives too many kisses which is particularly annoying when his breath is funky.
